Stepping Out Of My Layout Comfort Box

Hello everyone and Happy Friday! I am excited for this weekend to start because it's going to be a fun one! I have plans to relax and play with my sweet boy all weekend long. We may set up the kiddie pool and even do some finger painting outside if it's nice enough. Spring is here and I am happy :)

For Doodlebug this week we were asked to use their new Simply Put Journaling Cards. At first I was totally reluctant to try out the "project lift" style of scrapping because I don't like change. But I stepped outside my comfort zone and I'm so glad I did. I however decided to tweek the process a bit and instead of doing it everyday or week ( because lets be honest here, I would NEVER keep up to that) I decided to do a monthly book for this year.

I was surprised at how quickly it all came together. Once I got my process worked out a bit it took me not time at all. Now remember this was my first ever try at this so it was a little rocky but the Doodlebug cards made it so easy! Here's what I came up with:

Left Side:

Right Side:

Close up of my favorite parts:

Close up of hidden journaling flip card:

And finally a collage of all the fun:

Now, if you're like me and had no idea where to start with this style of scrappin', trust me and go ahead and get you some of these Simply Put Cards. They are 4x6 and are designed to fit right into the pockets, they really did make it so easy!
Hope everyone enjoys their weekend:)

  1. This turned out so cool Stephanie! I would never guess you're a newbie at it! I love the idea of creating 1 double page spread for each month of the year too (I'm with you about avoiding the trend and feeling like I wouldn't be able to keep up with it). I love how you did January down the side--Such a fun touch! :)

    1. Thanks Sherry and everyone, I really think I'm going to stick with this, it's so easy and I get so much done all at once. I'm thinking PL will be perfect for a crop I'm going to on Saturday, it will really cut down on the amount of stuff I bring (which is usually TONS). Thanks for stopping by and leaving me some love!
